The closing weeks of the season are finally here, and while we’re all excited to see how the fight for the title plays out, there’s another source of bragging rights on many of our minds – the chance to claim victory in our Fantasy WSL leagues.

By now, you’ll no doubt have your own tactics at hand, whether you choose to rely on popular players or have stayed mostly loyal to the team you created at the start.

However, if you want to pip other players at the post, now’s the time to think carefully about your line-up. You need to strike a balance between picking players who’ll give you plenty of points and selecting names who are unlikely to be picked by anyone else (and therefore give you the edge over your opponents) – and that’s where this article comes in.

With three game weeks left, we’ve taken a look at the players who are currently playing well and have racked up a decent amount of points across the entire season, but have a less than 10% ownership rate. We’re calling these players the ‘unsung heroes’ of the season – keep reading to check out who made the cut.

Please note: these figures are accurate as of 10th April, so there might have been some changes to form and total points after last week's games.

1. Jess Park

Claiming the top spot for unsung hero of the season is Manchester City's Jess Park, who, despite being on top form over the last couple of weeks (and racking up an impressive 48 points over the course of the season), is only owned by 1.95% of managers.

With Bunny Shaw out with an injury for the rest of the season and the Sky Blues heading to Bristol City this weekend, could bringing Jess Park into your line-up be the key to overall success?

2. Aggie Beever-Jones

Aggie Beever-Jones

Despite not being part of Chelsea's starting line-up for many games this season, Aggie Beever-Jones has taken her opportunities when she's had them, boasting an impressive seven goals and one assist so far.

Having racked up 44 points this season, she's also given managers plenty of return on their investment. However, only 1.65% of managers have her on their team at the moment.

3. Ashleigh Neville

The Tottenham Hotspur defender may not always seem like the top defensive pick, but her record says otherwise. Her perfect starting record and low yellow card figures – paired with her skills on the pitch – have earned her a total of 48 points this season.

With the team playing lower-ranked sides Brighton & Hove Albion and Everton in the coming weeks, now might be the perfect time to join the 4.83% of Fantasy managers who have her on their squad.

4. Becky Spencer

Becky Spencer

Tottenham Hotspur's goalkeeper Becky Spencer also makes the list of unsung heroes, bringing in a respectable 37 points across the season so far.

She may not be quite as high-scoring as some of the other goalkeepers in the game, but if you're looking for a dependable goalkeeper who's had some quality moments, then Spencer could be it. The 4.77% of Fantasy managers with her in their squad certainly think so.

5. Mary Fowler

Another Manchester City player who could be crucial in Bunny Shaw's absence is Mary Fowler, who, despite only starting in 10 matches this season, has accrued a total of 47 points thanks to her impressive five assists and one goal.

As stands, only 4.4% of Fantasy managers have her in their squad. Will you be joining them?
