Who were the most popular players this season?
As you might expect following their success in the World Cup, the players who boasted the highest average selection this season were primarily England Lionesses.
While selection percentages vary each week depending on who managers transfer in and out of their squads, these are the players who maintained the highest selection percentage throughout the season:
1. Mary Earps – 70.04%
2. Katie McCabe – 58.85%
3. Alex Greenwood – 51.22%
4. Millie Bright – 44.41%
5. Katie Robinson – 43.22%
6. Jill Roord – 39.35%
7. Alessia Russo – 37.74%
8. Ella Toone – 37.01%
9. Lauren James – 33.62%
10. Jordan Nobbs – 32.31%
Who were the most popular captain choices this season?
Your captain choices fluctuated depending on injuries and availability, but overall there were three players who came out on top: Sam Kerr, Katie McCabe and Mary Earps.
1. Sam Kerr
Despite suffering an ACL injury during a warm-weather training camp at the start of the year, Kerr started the season strong with four goals and three assists in just eight matches.
It’s for this reason that so many managers selected her as captain throughout the first 10 weeks of the season, after which her selection figures dropped off due to her injury.
2. Katie McCabe
A favourite among Arsenal fans, McCabe racked up a total of 80 points throughout the season, placing her within the top 20 highest scoring players in the game.
All of this meant she remained a popular captain pick throughout the season, despite the risk of her yellow cards (which she picked up eight of in total).
3. Mary Earps
Earps may not have been the highest scoring goalkeeper in the game this season (she was pipped by both Manchester City’s Khiara Keating and Everton’s Courtney Brosnan), but her popularity among both Manchester United fans and Lionesses fans meant she boasted a high number of captain selections throughout the season.
Who were the most underrated players this season?
If you’re looking to boost your performance next season, then these are the names to watch. These are the players who scored highly despite having a low average ownership – making them ideal for adding extra points to your score.
1. Elisabeth Terland
One of the season’s standout players, Brighton’s Terland scored a total of 13 goals this season for the Seagulls. In total she amassed an impressive 101 points, making her the fifth-highest-scoring player in the game.
But despite this, only 7.4% of managers had her on their roster this season. Make sure to keep that in mind when next season rolls around.
2. Guro Reiten
You don’t need to be a Chelsea fan to know Reiten has had some fantastic performances this season; her four-goal tally against Bristol City was enough to attract anyone’s attention.
However, with managers having to pick between the likes of Lauren James, Sjoeke Nusken and Niamh Charles when selecting their three Chelsea players, Reiten missed out on the attention she deserved. In the end, she had an average selection of 9.6% despite scoring 91 points overall.
3. Grace Fisk
Liverpool’s success this season may have been a team effort, but Fisk’s tally of brilliant performances certainly played a part.
Not only did she score 91 points overall – bringing her equal with Reiten – but she scored the highest number of bonus points overall, with 15 in total. Some players cottoned on to her success, with an average of 9.7% of managers selecting her to join their team. But will more join them next season?
