There’s nothing quite like a matchup between two top teams to make you rethink your whole line-up. Should you go with your gut and bet on one side, hoping they claim the victory? Should you go with a mix of both sides, to increase your chances of return? Or should you just avoid those teams altogether, hoping that they end up cancelling each other out?

It’s a tough decision. But if you are going to have one or more Chelsea or Arsenal players on your team this week, who should you go for? While top of the table clashes are always unpredictable, past match-ups can give us an indication of what to expect.

Below, we’ve combined the points scored across the last three times Chelsea and Arsenal came head-to-head (including earlier this season, when Chelsea beat Arsenal 2-1 at the Emirates). Here are the top 10 highest scorers across those matches; use this information wisely.

8. Sandy Baltimore, Caitlin Foord, Niamh Charles and Amanda Ilestedt - 8 points

Four players have taken home eight points across the last three games, although one, Amanda Ilestedt, won’t be making an appearance at this weekend’s game (she’s currently back in team training after having a baby). Niamh Charles is also making her way back from injury, but that doesn’t mean she won’t be making an appearance this weekend.

6. Lia Wälti and Mayra Ramírez - 9 points

Mayra Ramirez didn’t appear in both of last season’s meetings against Arsenal, but her nine point haul from the game at the Emirates at the end of last year puts her in the picture. Lia Walti, on the other hand, has spread out her point winning - the highest being the five she took home at the first Arsenal vs Chelsea match last season.

5. Beth Mead - 10 points

A goal at the Emirates last season followed by 60+ minutes on the pitch in the last two Arsenal and Chelsea matches give her a respectable 5th place with 10 points scored.

4. Alessia Russo - 13 points

The first Arsenal player to make this list, Russo gets 10 of her 13 points from the first Arsenal vs Chelsea game of the 2023/24 season, where she hit the back of the net twice.

2. Johanna Rytting Kaneryd and Lauren James - 14 points

Coming in joint second behind their Chelsea teammate are Johanna Rytting Kaneryd and Lauren James. While JRK performed well across both matches last season, James’ 5 point haul at this seasons’ game at the Emirates - combined with her fantastic showing at Stamford Bridge last year - put her in this spot.

1. Sjoeke Nüsken - 21 points

Despite only scoring three points total across both of Chelsea’s last two away games at the Emirates, the German midfielder amassed an impressive 18 points at the last Chelsea vs Arsenal showdown at Stamford Bridge, earning her this number one spot.
